I headed South to Antarctica with the RSS Sir David Attenborough (Boaty mcBoat Face) as part of the team for the ships first voyage to the continent. I was fortunate enough to spend 8 weeks with the ship helping to conduct the ships Ice Trials, making sure she didn't sink the first time she hit ice, to test the ships ability to operate in sea ice conditions, pretty key for her job and to finalise an operational risk audit for the British Antarctic Survey for all their Stations in Antarctica.
I also ended up taking on the role as on-board photographer, due to covid restricting Pete, the official BAS photographer coming on board and was part of the drone team for the ship, documenting the ships first journeys into the ice and her first visits to Stations across the continent.
