Takoradi Train Station

A photo series on the train Station in Takoradi, Ghana. Living here for a few years I always loved the train station and always stopped here when going for a run. Getting to know the people that lived in the station and the carriages .

Run down and now unloved it still had an air of hardwood seats and people rushing for trains. I could almost hear the punching of tickets and the clattering of carriages from 50years earlier.

As part of a deal with the Chinese Government I knew that the station would be getting developed to run trains fro Sekondi to Takoradi again so before it got redeveloped i wanted to get a few photos to remember some of the people i met here and to capture that air of nostalgia.

Douglas and the lads. They were disappointed that their football pitch outside of the train station was going to be redeveloped but were excited about riding on the trains when they were working again
View from above. Not often you can clamber all over trains
All aboard. The 317 had sat at platform 2 for the past 18 years.
I love the idea of the Station Manager putting up the train times in chalk
Must be an off-peak train
